A city that grew after the war, with pipes to match
Fullerton filled in fast after World War II, as tract homes spread over the old farmland. The Census puts the median build year at 1969, and about 62% of homes went up between 1950 and 1979. What happens when we check a Fullerton home for a slab leak?
We don't guess, and we don't break the slab to look. Each slab visit runs through four steps, and nothing is opened until the failed line is known.
Watch the meter
We turn off every fixture and look at the water meter. A dial that still moves means water is escaping somewhere. Next we close the house shutoff. If the dial stops, the leak is in the home. If it keeps going, the fault is in the line to the street.
Separate the hot side
We close the cold supply into the water heater. When the leak signal falls, a hot line is failing. When it doesn't change, the cold side is the one. A warm floor suggests hot water, but we test to be sure.
Listen along the pipe, then pressure test
Our acoustic gear listens through the piping at the shutoffs, the water heater and any open runs. We don't listen through the floor, because concrete dulls the sound. A gauge on an outdoor spigot confirms the leak separately. Thermal imaging only backs up what we've already found.
Repair it to last
When the bad line is in the slab, we abandon it and route new PEX through the attic. When the leak sits at a shutoff, the water heater or inside a wall, a spot repair fits better. You see it all in writing before we begin.

It means we assume less. About one home in five in 92832 was built before 1950, and many older houses have been replumbed since. So we test before we guess: a meter check, listening along the pipes, then a pressure test. That shows which line is losing water, whatever it’s made of.
Our Sunny Hills house is a single-story ranch. Does that make a slab leak reroute easier?
Often, yes. Sunny Hills is known for its ranch houses, and a single-story ranch usually has the attic over every room. That gives new PEX a short, open path from the water heater to the fixtures. A cramped attic or a later second-story addition takes more labor, and your written quote will say so.
