What happens when we test a Perris home for a slab leak?
Four checks, in order, before anyone opens a wall.
Watch the dial
We turn off every faucet and appliance and read your meter. A dial that still moves means water is escaping. Closing the house valve tells us more: if the dial stops, the loss is inside the home; if it keeps going, the fault is in the pipe from the street.
Rule out hot or cold
We close the cold feed into the water heater and look again. A drop in the loss points at the hot side. No change points at the cold side. A warm patch of floor is a clue, never the answer, so we test it.
Trace the sound and hold pressure
Our listening gear goes on the pipe itself, at valves, fittings and the heater, because a concrete floor deadens the noise. A gauge threaded onto an outside spigot shows the pressure falling, which proves the leak by a second route. Thermal cameras only back up what we already know.

A failed line inside the concrete gets bypassed: we leave it in place and route new PEX through the attic. A leak at a valve, the heater or inside a wall usually calls for a direct repair instead. You get the plan and price on paper before work begins.

Our house is near the Southern Hotel and the old depot downtown. Will a slab leak repair change how it looks?
It shouldn’t. The Southern Hotel on D Street dates to 1886 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Our slab fix works from the inside: new PEX runs through the attic and a few small drywall openings, so outside walls stay as they are. If your home is listed, check with the city before any exterior work.
We live near the San Jacinto River. After a big storm the ground stays soggy for days. Could that be a slab leak?
It can look like one, and the meter tells them apart. Turn off every faucet and appliance, then watch the dial. Rainwater in the soil won’t move it, but a leaking supply line will. A still dial points to the storm. A moving dial means water is leaving your pipes, so call us and we’ll find the line.
Perris sits on the Perris Block. Does that protect our pipes in an earthquake?
Not on its own. Geologists describe the Perris Block, named for the city in 1925, as structurally stable and unfaulted inside, with the San Jacinto fault zone along its eastern edge.
