What happens when we test a Stanton home for a slab leak?
Four steps, in the same order on every call. Nothing is cut or opened until the testing points to a single line.
Read the meter
We turn off every fixture and watch the water meter. A dial that still moves means water is escaping. Next we close the house shutoff. If the dial stops, the leak is inside the home. If it keeps going, the fault is on the service line to the street.
Separate hot from cold
Closing the cold supply into the water heater shows which side is leaking. A signal that fades points to a hot line, and one that holds points to cold. A warm floor is a clue, not proof, so we test it.
Listen on the pipe, then pressure test
Our listening gear goes on the pipe at shutoffs, the water heater and any exposed run. It never goes on the floor, because concrete dulls the sound. A gauge on an outdoor spigot confirms the leak separately. Thermal imaging only backs up what the other tests show.
Repair it the right way
When the failed line is inside the slab, we abandon it and run new PEX overhead. When the leak is at a valve, the water heater or behind a wall, a spot repair makes more sense. You get the plan and price in writing before work begins.

Hi, I want to personally thank Sergio and Levi for a masterful, well-done job. I had a slab leak. Quite honestly, I had a good idea as to where the leak was because of evidence of it in the form of hot water right next to the kitchen outer side wall and some warm porcelain kitchen floor tiles in the general area as well. I helped as much as I can. I also provided a location for a branch that was never utilized for an optional bar. They ended up using that branch to tie in the 3/4" PEX, rather than tying in it at the water heater which would have been another 10 feet away in the garage. They worked very well as a team, and they were very detail oriented by providing foam insulation for the PEX and replacing an 8' span of 1/2" copper pipe aside from all else. The ceiling sheet rock was carefully cut out and saved (11 pcs.) so that it may be utilized again. Moreover, Sergio was inciteful to leave, when possible, some exposed floor joists around the perimeter of the cuts in order to facilitate the sheet rock repair down the line. I will use this company and them again if the need arises. I am presently a bit more partial with Sergio and Levi and will request them if possible. Moreover, since they have a general understanding of the house and its plumbing.
