Murrieta Water Leak Detection
You suspect a hidden leak. You don’t know where, you don’t know what kind. That’s where Murrieta water leak detection starts. We pinpoint hidden water leaks behind walls, in ceilings, under fixtures, and in copper supply lines, non-invasively, before anything gets opened. Heads up: We’re water-line specialists. We don’t service pool/spa leaks, irrigation lines, or natural-gas lines. Everything else hidden behind walls, under sinks, or in the ceiling, that’s exactly what we do.
Why hidden leaks turn up so often in older Murrieta homes.
Most Murrieta callers don’t know what kind of leak they have. They know the water bill jumped, or a baseboard feels damp, or there’s a ceiling stain growing under an upstairs bathroom. Leak detection is the diagnostic entry point. It tells you what you’re dealing with: a hidden leak, an in-wall pinhole, a ceiling drop from above, or a pressurized line you can’t see. We do this for every kind of in-home water leak: floor, wall, ceiling, attic, behind cabinetry, under tile.
The work is non-invasive on purpose. We start at the water meter, then isolate the leak step by step: inside vs outside, hot side vs cold side, acoustically through the piping. A pressure gauge confirms it. By the time anything gets opened, we already know which line failed and where. That’s the difference between a single targeted access cut and a kitchen full of demo. We’re inside Murrieta city limits. A technician reaches Old Town Murrieta in under ten minutes, Greer Ranch and Copper Canyon in fifteen, and the newer builds past Spencer’s Crossing and Vintage Reserve in twenty.
Every Murrieta leak has a context. The build year, the local clay soil that shifts with the seasons, and the incoming water pressure all play a part. We read those before we open anything. That is what hidden leak detection should be, non-invasive leak detection that finds the source without tearing the house apart. It is why we are the Murrieta leak detection company other plumbers call when they cannot find it.

Every kind of in-home water leak. Located first, repaired second.
Detection comes first on every call, that’s how we know what we’re dealing with. From there, the same crew handles the repair, whether it’s a pinhole, a slab line, a hidden in-wall drip, or a full reroute.
Water Leak Detection (the diagnostic)
Non-invasive electronic leak detection starts every job. We run a meter test, isolate hot from cold, listen acoustically through the piping, and confirm with a pressure test (thermal imaging when it helps). That finds hidden water-line leaks behind drywall, in attic feeds, or under fixtures.
- Pressurized cold & hot-line scans
- Behind-wall and supply-line locating
- Report with photos for insurance
Wall & Ceiling Leak Repair
Once detection finds the failed line, we repair it: targeted small-access cuts on in-wall pinholes, plus ceiling leak repair from upstairs supply lines. We do this across Murrieta’s tract-home neighborhoods. Wall leak repair without tearing out more drywall than we have to.
- Small-access cuts that save drywall
- Ceiling and supply-line repairs
- Post-repair pressure verification
Pinhole & Copper Repair
Common on 1990s to early-2000s Murrieta builds. Murrieta pinhole leak repair on a copper pipe leak means we replace the failing section, not the whole line, unless it is time.
- Pinhole locating in copper runs
- Cause diagnosis (pressure, pH, age)
- Section swap or partial repipe
Supply-Line & Fixture Leaks
Leaks at angle stops, under sinks, behind a toilet, at the washer box, or in the supply line feeding a fixture. We find the source and repair it, no guesswork.
- Angle-stop and supply-line repairs
- Under-sink and fixture leaks
- Pressure-test and verify before close
Repipe When Copper Keeps Failing
When pinholes keep coming back on aged copper, patching one more spot is throwing money at it. A targeted repipe in PEX replaces the failing runs for good. We tell you honestly when you have reached that point.
- PEX replacement of failing runs
- Honest repair-vs-repipe call
- Pressure regulator checked
Insurance Claim Assistance
We package the photos, locating data, and scope-of-loss your adjuster needs. We’ve worked with every major carrier serving Murrieta.
- Cause-of-loss documentation
- Direct billing where applicable
- Carrier-language scope reports
How do you find a water leak without breaking anything?
You suspect a leak but you don’t know what kind, in-wall, ceiling, pinhole, behind a cabinet, or a supply line. That’s what this step is for. We don’t start with a hammer. We start at your water meter. It’s a six-step electronic leak detection process that pinpoints where the leak is and which line failed, before any tile, drywall, or flooring gets touched.
By the time anything gets opened, we already know which line failed and where. That’s the difference between a single targeted access cut and a kitchen full of demo.
The meter test
Every investigation starts at your water meter, before any tool comes off the truck. With every fixture and appliance shut off, the meter should sit still. If it’s moving, water is going somewhere it shouldn’t.
Inside or outside?
We close the main shutoff at the house. If the meter stops, the leak is inside. If it keeps moving, it’s between the meter and the house, or in irrigation. (We don’t repair outdoor, pool, or irrigation, but we’ll tell you what you’re dealing with.)
Hot side or cold side?
At the water heater, we close the cold-water inlet. If the leak signal drops, it’s a hot-line leak. If it doesn’t, the leak is on the cold side. A hot-line leak doesn’t always produce a warm floor, acoustic confirmation is what we trust, not floor temperature.
Acoustic detection through the piping
This is the part most homeowners get wrong. We don’t listen through your floor, we listen through the piping itself, at exposed shutoff valves, water-heater connections, and accessible runs. Concrete muffles the signal anyway, and the goal isn’t to mark an X on your floor for excavation. The goal is to identify which line has failed so we can fix it without breaking the floor in the first place.
Pressure test confirmation
We attach a gauge to a hose bib, close the main shutoff, and watch the pressure. If it steadily drops, an active leak is confirmed, independent verification that something is actually leaking and roughly how fast.
Thermal imaging when it helps
For some jobs, thermal imaging on walls or floors adds a useful second opinion, especially on hot-line leaks under finished surfaces. We use it when it helps, not as a routine step.
What are the signs of a hidden water leak?
Hidden leaks rarely announce themselves. By the time water appears somewhere visible, the leak has usually been running for weeks. These are the signs homeowners notice first, and what each one is telling you.
You don’t need all six. Any one of these is reason enough to call.
High water bill, no explanation
Your usage hasn’t changed, but the bill keeps climbing. A hidden leak running 24 hours a day doesn’t need to be large to cost you hundreds of dollars a month. If the number on your bill doesn’t match the way you live, there’s usually water going somewhere it shouldn’t.
Water meter moving with everything off
Turn off every faucet, appliance, and fixture in the home, then watch the meter. If the dial is still moving, water is actively flowing somewhere on your property. This is one of the first checks we run on every job, and it tells us within minutes whether a leak is present.
Sound of running water with nothing on
A faint hiss, drip, or rush behind a wall or under the floor, with everything in the home shut off, is worth taking seriously. You’re hearing water moving through a pipe it shouldn’t be leaving. The sound alone won’t tell you where, but it confirms something is wrong.
Warm or hot spot on the floor
A section of floor that feels warmer than the area around it is a common sign. It usually points to a hot water line leaking beneath the floor. The heat transfers up from the pipe below. It’s easy to dismiss as a quirk of the house. It usually isn’t.
Wet or damp flooring with no obvious source
Moisture appearing in carpet, hardwood, or tile without a spill, a plumbing fixture nearby, or recent rain is a red flag. Water traveling up through a slab or migrating from a pinhole leak inside a wall doesn’t announce itself. It just shows up.
Unexplained drop in water pressure
Your faucet and shower pressure dropped, but nothing changed about your fixtures or water service. That usually means water is escaping before it reaches them. Pressure loss from a hidden leak tends to be gradual. That’s why it often gets blamed on aging pipes instead of an active leak.

What homeowners say about finding hidden leaks.
Real reviews from our Google Business Profile.
John came to fix a leak in our walls. We hired him for a free inspection, but the drywall was soggy and he found a small hole in a nearby pipe. Within a few hours he removed the old insulation and closed off the leak. Very efficient.
A new leak was detected in my bathroom. I called Ginny and she set an appointment the next day. The technician gave a reasonable quote with a good explanation of the leak and the solution. The leak was isolated and well fixed.
I had a hard-to-find leak in my upstairs bathroom. Another plumber looked for 3 hours and gave up. Sergio was thorough, used a camera and listened to the pipes, found the leak on the first attempt, and fixed it with minimal damage to the house.
We handle the insurance claim. You don't.
When your leak comes with water damage, the insurance side of the job is usually more stressful than the plumbing side. Adjusters ask for documentation homeowners don’t know how to produce. Scopes of work get rejected for missing detail. Claims stall for weeks while the damage gets worse.
We do the insurance work for you. Not “we’ll send you the invoice and good luck.” Actual end-to-end claim handling.

- Leak documentation. Cause of loss, location, line affected, written in the language carriers expect.
- Photographs. The leak, the surrounding damage, the access points, the repair. Time-stamped, organized, captioned.
- Scope of work. Prepared for the adjuster, line-itemed, with the repair method and reasoning behind it.
- Direct communication with your carrier. We talk to the adjuster so you don’t have to. If they push back, we answer. If they need more evidence, we send it.
- Re-route justification when it applies. Many carriers default-approve spot repairs and question re-routes. We document why the re-route is the correct repair on aged plumbing, with the diagnostic to back it.
How much does water leak detection cost in Murrieta?
Honest answer: we can’t quote you a number from a website. Murrieta water leak repair cost depends on what we find: where the leak is, how easy it is to reach, and whether it’s one fitting or a failing run. What we can do is tell you exactly what drives the price, so the written quote makes sense when you get it.
What moves the cost up or down
Where the leak is
A leak at an accessible shutoff valve or water heater connection is one kind of job. A leak under 40 feet of slab in the middle of the house is another.
What the repair requires
A spot repair on accessible copper is the cheapest path. A full line re-route through walls and attic costs more upfront but is more reliable long-term on aged plumbing.
Pipe material and age
Older copper may show wear across the whole run, which can change the recommendation from spot repair to re-route or re-pipe.
Access
Tile floors, second-story leaks, tight attic clearances, and finished interiors all affect labor time.
Water damage
If the leak has already caused damage, that’s a separate scope. We document it for your insurance claim.
I don't even know what kind of leak I have. Can you still help?
That’s exactly when to call. You don’t need to diagnose anything yourself, that’s our job. A high water bill, a damp baseboard, a ceiling stain, a warm spot on the floor, a hissing wall, they’re all reasons to start with a leak-detection visit. We figure out which line is leaking and where, then tell you what the fix looks like.
What kinds of leaks do you actually detect?
Every type of hidden in-home water leak: in-wall pinholes, ceiling drops from upstairs supply lines, leaks behind cabinetry, copper pipe failures, and supply-line leaks. We don’t do pool, irrigation, or gas. Slab leaks are their own specialty, covered in depth on our Murrieta slab leak repair page.
How fast can you actually get to my Murrieta house?
We can get to Murrieta & surrounding areas in under 60 minutes, day or night for emergency repairs.
Do you service pool, irrigation, or gas leaks?
No. We’re water-line specialists. We don’t touch pool/spa leaks, irrigation systems, or natural-gas lines. You are better calling a Murrieta-area specialist for these types of leaks.
Are pinhole leaks common in older Murrieta homes?
Yes, unfortunately. A lot of Murrieta tract homes built between 1996 and 2005 used thin-wall copper M with high municipal pressure feeding it. Three pinholes is usually when we start recommending a full PEX repipe over a fourth patch, the math almost always works out.
Do you repair the leak the same day you find it?
Usually, yes. Most hidden leaks we locate, an in-wall pinhole, a supply-line failure, a ceiling drop, we can repair on the same visit once you approve the written quote. Larger jobs get scheduled, but you’ll know the plan and the price before we start.
Will my insurance cover it?
Most HO-3 policies cover sudden & accidental water damage from hidden leaks. Where they tend to not cover is the repair to the pipe itself, they cover the resulting water damage. We document both sides so the adjuster has what they need. See our insurance section above.
How do you find a leak without breaking my floor?
We start at the meter to confirm there is a leak, then isolate it to the hot or cold line. Next we walk the line with acoustic listening gear to pinpoint the location through the piping itself, not through the floor. A pressure test confirms the spot before anything gets opened.
Are the Murrieta Hot Springs mineral deposits a problem for my plumbing?
Only if you’re on a private well drawing from the warm-water table, which is rare for residential Murrieta. Municipal water here is treated and within normal range. What does cause pinholes here is high static pressure, not mineral content.
Do you charge for the estimate?
No. Written estimates are free, and leak detection is free when we do the repair. You’ll always know the scope of work and price before we start.
Can you bill my insurance directly?
For most major carriers serving Murrieta, yes. We’ll coordinate with your adjuster, submit our scope of loss, and bill the carrier directly. You pay your deductible and we handle the rest.
