Emergency Plumbing in Murrieta, CA

Why Murrieta gets more after-hours plumbing calls than its neighbors

Three things conspire against the average Murrieta house in the middle of the night. The first is water pressure. When static pressure climbs above the 60–80 psi a home is built for, it stresses the whole system. Often a pressure-regulating valve has failed. That extra force chews up old angle stops, washing-machine hoses, water-heater nipples, and pinhole-thin spots in aged copper. It usually happens when nobody’s home or everyone’s asleep, so we get more burst-pipe calls between 11pm and 6am than any other shift.

Then there’s the build era. Many Murrieta neighborhoods went up during the city’s growth years on copper supply lines and original-spec water heaters. Those heaters are now well past their 10–12 year life expectancy, and the area’s hard water pushes them into early retirement. A heater that “just stopped working” on a Sunday is one of the most common calls our dispatcher takes.

Soils that shift sewer laterals out of grade over time add a third. The most common emergency water leak in Murrieta is a burst or leaking supply line. Failed water heaters and main-line drain backups follow close behind. That’s why we keep a dedicated emergency truck nearby, stocked with the common emergency parts.

What we handle on an emergency call

Burst pipes and water emergencies we handle in Murrieta

Different failures, same call: water somewhere it shouldn’t be, or no water where it should be. Common thread: we stop the bleeding first, then quote the permanent repair in writing before anything bigger gets opened up.

Burst Pipe & Pinhole Leak

Failed copper, blown angle stop, ruptured washing-machine hose, frozen-snap pinhole. We isolate, cut out the failed section, and splice in PEX or copper, same trip. Most burst pipe repair in Murrieta is done the same night.

  • Shut off at the meter or zone valve
  • Section replacement, pressure-tested
  • Drywall opened only where needed
See triage method

Main Shutoff & PRV Failure

Main valve won’t close, pressure regulator stuck open at 110+ psi, meter-side angle stop weeping. The valve that’s supposed to save the house, fails first. We swap it on site.

  • Ball-valve or PRV replacement
  • Static-pressure tested after install
  • Meter-side shutoff coordination if needed

Water Heater Emergency

No hot water on a Sunday, tank leaking onto the garage floor, T&P valve venting steam. We have 40, 50, and 75 gallon tanks on the truck and tankless service parts in stock.

  • Same-day tank replacement
  • Tankless flush, ignitor, & sensor repair
  • Code-compliant straps & expansion tank

Drain & Sewer Backup

Toilet overflow that won’t stop, shower drain bubbling sewage, gurgling tubs across multiple bathrooms. We auger, hydro-jet, and camera-scope the main line, same call.

  • Cable auger or 4,000 psi hydro-jet
  • Color sewer-camera inspection
  • Cleanout access & locate

Toilet, Faucet & Fixture Failure

Overflowing toilet that wax-ring failed, faucet that won’t shut off, shower valve cartridge stuck on hot. Common parts ride on the truck, fixed same trip in most cases.

  • Wax ring, fill valve, supply line
  • Cartridge, stem, & trim service
  • Toilet, faucet, & angle-stop replacement

Our Method

How we triage an emergency call before we drive.

Most emergency-plumbing damage isn’t done by the failure itself. It happens in the 30 minutes between the first drip and somebody finding the right shutoff. So while the truck is rolling, our dispatcher walks every Murrieta caller through three steps over the phone. By the time we reach the driveway, the bleeding has stopped.

The on-site procedure is the same every time: contain, diagnose, write the estimate, then repair. We don’t open drywall or pull fixtures until you’ve seen the price.

01

Find the right shutoff, fast

Over the phone we walk you to the closest shutoff. That might be a valve, a fixture angle stop, the water-heater inlet, a hose-bib, or the main at the front of the house. Two minutes saved here is often a thousand dollars of drywall.

02

Kill power if needed

Water near outlets, near a furnace, or in a finished ceiling means we ask you to flip the breaker before we arrive. If a water heater is the source, gas off at the heater, electric off at the panel.

03

Truck rolls with common parts aboard

The truck carries the common emergency parts: angle stops, supply lines, PEX, water-heater fittings, wax rings, fill valves, cartridges, and a drain machine. That usually saves a parts-run mid-emergency.

04

On-site contain & diagnose

First task on arrival: confirm the water is actually off and the failure isn’t growing. Then we identify the exact failed component, often visually within 5 minutes for burst lines, longer for drain backups.

05

Written estimate, in your hand

Before we cut, drill, snake, or replace, you get a written price for the repair. After-hours rate, parts, labor, all itemized. If insurance is involved, we flag the line items the carrier will want.

06

Repair, test, document

Pressure-test on supply repairs, flow-test on drains, T&P and gas-pressure on heater swaps. Photos of the failed part, photos of the new install, copies to you (and your adjuster, if applicable).

Six reasons people hesitate

Most people wait too long. Water doesn't.

By the time a hidden leak becomes impossible to ignore, it’s been running for a while. If something is stopping you from calling, it’s usually one of six things.

Here’s where we stand on each of them.

Cali's Choice service van outside a Murrieta home at night, lights on, ready to dispatch

It's the middle of the night.

We run calls around the clock. There is no bad time to reach us. 2am gets the same response as 2pm.

Hidden leak inside a wall cavity: cracked copper supply line dripping behind drywall, baseboard stain just starting to show

I'm not sure it's serious enough.

If water is moving somewhere it shouldn’t, it’s worth a call. We’ll tell you honestly what needs to happen right now and what can wait until morning.

Cutaway view of a Murrieta home showing supply lines running through walls and a slab leak under the floor — locating it is our job, not yours

I don't know where the leak is.

You don’t need to. Locating it is the first thing we do. You don’t have to pull anything apart before we arrive.

Close-up of a cracked copper supply line dripping inside the wall cavity, behind torn drywall — the kind of failure we scope and price before we open anything

I'm worried about the cost.

We give you a clear scope before we touch anything. No work starts without your approval, no matter the hour.

A Cali's Choice van rolls into a quiet Murrieta neighborhood at night, headlights on, while a homeowner waits inside — 60-minute response, any hour

I already called someone and they can't come.

We can. 60-minute response across Murrieta and the surrounding area, any hour of the day or night.

Photographs, file folders, and a written scope laid out on a tile floor — the insurance documentation packet we hand you on every covered claim

My insurance might cover this.

It might. We handle the claim documentation if it does: photos, scope of work, and direct communication with your carrier.

The fastest, best service I’ve ever received. The plumber came out on a Sunday afternoon, stopped the hot water heater leak, and looped the water lines together so we’d have water for the night. He came back the next day with the new heater and had us running again in a few hours.

We hired Cali’s Choice for a free inspection of a leak in our walls, but the drywall was so soggy we had them fix it that day. They found a small hole in a nearby pipe, removed the old insulation, and closed off the leak within a few hours. Very efficient, highly recommend.

A new leak was detected in my bathroom. I called and they responded immediately, with an appointment set the next day. The technician explained the leak and the fix and gave a reasonable quote. The leak was isolated and well fixed. Very happy with their professional service.

Emergency Plumbing Insurance Claims

We handle the emergency claim. You don't.

A burst pipe or failed water heater can damage floors, drywall, and ceilings. That makes it one of the most documented claims an HO-3 policy will ever see. Adjusters want things homeowners don’t know how to produce: cause-of-loss in writing, photos of the failed component, pressure data, and a line-itemed scope. Get one wrong and the claim stalls for weeks while restoration waits.

We do the emergency-plumbing insurance work for you. Not “we’ll send you the invoice and good luck.” Actual end-to-end claim handling.

What we handle on every emergency claim:
  • Cause-of-loss documentation. Sudden & accidental wording, component failed (heater seam, supply hose, angle stop, etc.), build year, written the way carriers expect.
  • Photographs. The failed part, surrounding water damage, the meter pressure reading, the new install. Time-stamped, organized, captioned.
  • Scope of work. The emergency repair line-itemed against after-hours rates, plus follow-up scope if a larger repair (such as a repipe) is recommended.
  • Direct communication with your carrier. We talk to the adjuster so you don’t have to. If they push back, we answer. If they need more evidence, we send it.
  • Follow-up scope when the emergency points to a bigger repair. If the failure traces to an aged run or a slab line, we document the recommended repipe or reroute on the same claim so nothing gets missed later.

Emergency Plumbing Pricing

What a Murrieta emergency call actually costs.

Honest answer: we can’t quote an emergency from a website. A 2am burst-pipe call could be $250 for a single angle-stop swap, or $3,400 for a heater replacement with code upgrades. What we can do is tell you exactly what drives the price. Then the written estimate makes sense when the tech hands you the tablet.

What moves an emergency call up or down

What actually failed

A failed angle stop or supply line is a sub-$300 fix. A burst section of in-wall copper is more. A failed water heater with sediment damage is more still. The first 10 minutes on site tell us where on that spectrum you sit.

Time of day & day of week

Standard daytime rate, an evening rate (6pm–11pm), and an overnight/holiday rate. We post all three on the tablet before you sign. No surprise surcharges.

Access to the failure

An exposed angle stop is fast. A pinhole behind drywall in a finished ceiling takes longer, drywall opens, the section is replaced, the patch is part of the quote.

Parts on the truck vs. parts run

Most common emergency parts ride on the truck. The occasional exception, like an unusual heater size or a non-stock cartridge, may need a daylight parts run. That slows the schedule, but it doesn’t change the labor scope.

Water damage already present

If the burst saturated drywall, baseboards, or flooring before we arrived, that’s a separate scope, dry-out and restoration. We document it for your insurance claim, but it’s not on the plumbing invoice.

What counts as a plumbing emergency worth calling at 2am?

Anything actively releasing water you can’t stop. A burst supply line, a failed water heater, a sewer backup pushing into a fixture, a main shutoff you can’t close. If the meter is spinning and you don’t know why, that’s a call. Slow drips and minor faucet leaks can usually wait until morning, we’ll tell you on the phone if yours is one of those.

How fast can a Murrieta emergency tech actually get here?

Our standard response window is 60 minutes inside Murrieta, day or night. From the Jefferson Avenue office: Old Town in under 10 minutes, Greer Ranch around 15, Spencer’s Crossing around 20. We keep an emergency-stocked truck on the lot specifically for 92562/92563 calls.

I can't find my main shutoff. What do I do?

Call us first. Our dispatcher will walk you to it on the phone. On most Murrieta homes it’s outside, on the wall closest to the street, usually near the hose bib. If yours is seized or missing, the meter at the parkway can be shut off with a standard meter key. We carry one on every truck, and your water utility can shut it off too.

Do you charge a callout fee or after-hours premium?

No callout fee. Diagnosis is free, you only pay if we repair. We do have an after-hours labor rate (evenings, overnights, holidays), and it’s itemized separately on the written estimate before you sign. Daytime jobs are quoted at the standard rate.

My water heater died on a Sunday. Can you replace it the same day?

Almost always, yes. We keep 40, 50, and 75 gallon gas and electric tanks on the lot, plus the common tankless service parts (ignitors, sensors, flush kits). Same-day replacement is the norm; unusual configurations (point-of-use, indirect-fired, etc.) may need a Monday parts run.

Will my insurance cover an emergency plumbing repair?

Most HO-3 policies cover the sudden & accidental water damage from a burst pipe or failed heater (the wet drywall, flooring, dry-out, restoration). Where they typically don’t cover is the pipe or appliance repair itself, that’s on you. We document both sides so the adjuster has everything they need. See our insurance section above.

Sewer backing up into a shower, what's that actually telling me?

Sewage rising at the lowest drains, usually a downstairs shower or tub, points to your main sewer lateral, not a single fixture. That lateral is the line from the house to the city tap. The usual causes are root intrusion or grease build-up. We snake it tonight, camera-scope it after, and tell you whether a hydro-jet or a more involved sewer repair is the right follow-up.

Once you've stopped the water, how do you find exactly where it's leaking?

Stopping the water is the first move. Finding the exact source is the next, and that’s our leak detection work: we listen acoustically through the pipe and run a pressure test to pinpoint it, instead of opening walls to look. If the leak is in a line under the slab, the permanent fix is a slab leak repair, usually an overhead reroute rather than breaking the floor.

Do you pull City of Murrieta permits for emergency repairs?

Water heaters, gas-line work, and sewer-line replacements get permitted through the City of Murrieta building department. In-kind emergency repairs (a burst section of supply line, an angle stop, a fixture swap) typically don’t. Either way, we tell you up front whether a permit is required and what it’ll cost.

Can you bill my homeowners insurance directly?

For most major carriers serving Murrieta, yes. We coordinate with your adjuster, submit our cause-of-loss and scope, and bill the carrier directly for the covered portion. You pay your deductible and we handle the rest.
